Since the start of his solo career in May last year, former Oasis and Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher has barely taken a break from touring.
The Isle of Wight, then, is, in some senses, just another day in the office – but what a great day.
The king of swagger sauntered on stage, up to the mic and kicked off with Oasis classic, Rock n Roll Star. The set continued with a powerful energy from both Liam and the crowd as he performed Oasis anthems (including tunes not played as often such as Bring It On Down and Whatever), as well as the biggest hits from his solo album, As You Were.
Proudly clutching his maracas, the younger Gallagher brother spoke to the crowd for the last time: ‘Right you’ve got three choices: Live Forever, Wonderwall, or I fuck off'. The winner, inevitably, was Wonderwall.
